Donald H. Abts, 85, of Vancouver died Friday, March 30, 2012 at his home. He was born September 3, 1926 in Randolph, Nebraska to Edward and Victoria Abts.
Don retired from Fort Vancouver Plywood in 1991, where he had been employed for 30 years. He was a life-long member of the Elks and the American Legion. In addition, he was a Naval veteran of World War II.
Throughout his life, Don enjoyed traveling. He visited twenty-two countries and almost all of the United States. He like watching his favorite sports teams: the Mariners, Blazers and Seahawks. Most of all he treasured the time spent with his family.
Donald is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, JoAnn; sons, Doug Abts, David (Tina) Abts, Daniel (Kim) Abts; grandchildren, Josh (Stephanie), Nichele, Alex, Trevor, Sarah and Tyler; and sister, Madelene Kilgore; and many nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by his son, Dale Abts; parents, Edward and Victoria Abts; and brothers, Aaron and Roberts Abts .
A memorial Mass will be held be held 10:00 AM, Wednesday, April 4th at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
