BARBARA WESTBY PAULL
September 19, 1946 ˜ February
16, 2022

Barbara Paull passed away peacefully at her Portland home on Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2022. She was 75 years old. Her life will be celebrated at a funeral mass at 3:30 p.m. Monday, March 7, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Vancouver, WA, with a reception dinner to follow.

Barbara was born on Sept. 19, 1946, in Vancouver to Herbert and Angela Westby. She was one of eight siblings. She attended St. Joseph Catholic School where she met Cathy Curran and forged a friendship that would last nearly 70 years.

She attended Saint Ambrose University in Davenport, IA, where she received a bachelor's degree in Social Work in 1972. She went on to earn a master's in Social Work from Portland State University. Barbara worked at Providence Portland and later at Providence St. Vincent as a social worker in the ICU and NICU. It was hard work, but as she would say, it was an honor and truly was her pleasure. She loved children and families and was grateful for the opportunity to help so many throughout her career.

Barbara retired in 2012 and enjoyed time spent with family and friends. She was a prolific and lifelong reader and shared this with her dear friends in the book club, most of whom she met while their children were in kindergarten with her son, Justin. Her generosity and thoughtfulness were unrivaled. She will be remembered as a loyal friend, a wonderful mother and sister, a formidable Scrabble opponent, and a fierce advocate for those less fortunate.

Barbara is survived by her son, Justin; her daughter-in-law, Laura; and her brothers, Harold Westby, Gordon Westby (Patty), Paul Westby (Rosemary), and Michael Westby (Patti). She was predeceased by her parents, Herbert and Angela Westby; her sisters, Sheila and Collette Westby; and her brother, William Westby.

Interment will be scheduled for a later date at Park Hill Cemetery in Vancouver, WA.
