Obituary

BONNIE MAUREEN (PEOPLES) PETERSON
July 15, 1934 ˜ September 28, 2023

On Thursday, Sept. 28, 2023, Bonnie Maureen (Peoples) Peterson, 89, was called home to her maker. Born July 15, 1934, in Minot, ND, she was the third of five girls to Guy Peoples and Gertrude Nice. The family moved to Coeur d'Alene, ID, when she was very young and she spent her childhood there, graduating from Coeur d'Alene High School in 1952. She was a popular and brainy young woman, active in student government, and activities such as the thespian club. She reigned as homecoming queen her senior year.

After graduation, she and her longtime love, Donald Lee Peterson, were married and remained so until death parted them, having celebrated 71 years, side-by-side. Early In their marriage, they frequently relocated as Don served in the military during the Korean War and then attended college. They eventually built a beautiful home and settled down in Vancouver, WA, to raise their two beautiful children, Michael Shane "Shane," Peterson, and Marcie Anne Peterson-Love.

In 1980, Bonnie achieved her dream of becoming a nurse, earning her RN degree from Clark College in Vancouver. She was a lovely, bubbly, and fun woman who was active in her community, and enjoyed a close circle of friends, with whom she played rousing games of Bunco, and took adventures to the Shakespearean Festival in Ashland, OR.

She was preceded in death by her father, mother, and sisters, Robyn Phelps, Colleen "Connie" Nygaard, Gay Petro, and Nancy Brown, and her son, Shane.

Bonnie will be greatly missed by her loving husband, daughter and son-in-law (Thomas), grandchildren, (Mick and Max Peterson) and a large extended family.
