Obituary

Carolyn Anderson passed away peacefully on December 5, 2025, in Vancouver, Washington, just days before her 93rd birthday. Surrounded by her family whom she cherished most, her life was a testament to grace, devotion, and unwavering love.

Born and raised in the copper mining town of Ajo, Arizona, Carolyn was the youngest child of Italian immigrants Louise and James. Her early years were shaped by the warmth of family and a deep-rooted sense of care that would guide her throughout life. She blossomed in school—editor of the high school annual, homecoming queen, salutatorian, and member of the National Honor Society—before pursuing nursing in Tucson.

In nursing school, she met Jacob Theodore "Ted" Anderson of the U.S. Air Force. Their love led them to the Pacific Northwest, where they built a life together over 56 years of marriage. Carolyn's career as a nurse reflected her deep compassion—her smile, humor, and gentle touch offering comfort to all she served at Providence Hospital, Emerald Terrace Convalescent Center, and later with Drs. Turner, Strong, Fisher, and Harrison.

Carolyn was a devoted mother to six children: Lynn (Tony) Shedrick, Paul (Debbie) Anderson, Jim (Karla) Anderson, Laury (Kirk) Karns, Ellen (Bob) Doyle, and John Anderson; grandmother to ten; and great-grandmother to twenty-one. Her home was the heart of the family: a place of laughter, nourishment, and unwavering support.

Her Catholic faith illuminated every chapter of her life. She nurtured her children in that same faith at St. Joseph's Catholic Church and found purpose through service with St. Vincent de Paul.

A Funeral Mass will be held on December 22, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 400 S. Andresen Road. A reception will follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Carolyn's honor to The St. Vincent de Paul Society: 2456 NE Stapleton Rd,Vancouver , WA 98661. https://www.svdpvancouverusa.org

Today, Heaven is a better place because Carolyn is on her way, pen and paper in hand, ready to organize a reunion with all who have arrived before her.

"Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things ; I will put you in charge of many things." Matthew 25:21
