Coletta Brands was a very kind and loving person with a great sense of humor. She was a faithful and devout Catholic all of her life. Coletta was born on February 5, 1940, in Youngstown Ohio to Joseph and Coletta (Rhinehardt) Carney. She was the oldest of 5 children (3 sisters and 1 brother). Her family moved to Oregon when she was young; she was a good student and had many leadership roles in high school. In June 1957 she graduated high school and married James Brands.

Shortly after getting married, James and Coletta moved to the Bay Area and then to San Jose, California. They had seven redheads from 1958-68 and boy did it attract a lot of attention wherever she went. Coletta was very active in the school PTA and served as a leader for both Boy and Girl Scouts. In August 1971 her family moved to a house near McMinnville, Oregon with 2 acres for the children to play on, raise rabbits, and grow a big garden… In August 1976 the family moved to Vancouver, Washington where she lived happily the rest of her life. Her husband died in 1999, and her children all pitched in to take care of all of her needs as the years passed by, each doing what they could to help. Her brother, Michael Carney, died in 2016. On December 11, 2025, she was called to her eternal home in heaven at the age of 85.

Coletta is survived by her 3 sisters: Carol Olmstead (Portland, OR), Mary Morris (Thomasville, NC), and Jo Carney, (Portland, OR).

Her 7 Children: Cecelia Brands (Eugene, OR), Ed (Shelly) Brands (Vancouver, WA), Mike (Stephanie) Brands (Kealakekua, HI), Betty Brands (Vancouver, WA), Teresa Brands (Springdale, AR), Bob (Amy) Brands (Vancouver, WA), Patricia (Danny) Campbell (Vancouver WA).

Her 11 grandchildren: Christina Brands, Hayley George, Zachary Brands, Emily Brands, Brother Gabriel (Andrew) Brands, Matthew Brands, Daniel Campbell, Noah Brands, Madison Brands, Nicholas Campbell and Ben Brands.

Her 5 Great Grandchildren: Nevaeh Doby, Kylie Doby, Jamal Doby, Malia Doby and Delilah Campbell.
