As a guy never to sit still for too long, Darryl worked a variety of jobs before starting a career at United Airlines in Denver, CO and eventually relocated to Vancouver, WA after accepting a transfer to Portland, OR. After leaving United, Darryl put his 'Jack-Of-All-Trades' skills to excellent use when he went to work for the Pythian Retirement Center as a maintenance man. He retired from the Pythian in 2014.
Darryl could always be found in the sanctuary of his garage. It is there that he would spend countless hours tinkering around with everything from making stained glass crafts, or doing some leather work, to fixing some broken furniture, and rebuilding Chevy engines. It was also where he would sit in silence with a hot cup of coffee and a good book, probably Stephen King, but whatever would grab his attention was good. The garage truly was his happy place.
He loved camping, doing crossword puzzles, riding motorcycles and telling stories. He had a wicked sense of humor and was always quick with a joke. Darryl was caring, creative, smart and funny, and was someone that was ready and willing to help anyone, anytime. He liked his steaks like boot leather, his peaches juicy and loved his mother's homemade poppyseed bread. He was a friend to many and will truly be missed by every life that he touched.
