Dennis Dale
Kays
Aug 16, 1946 — Jul 7, 2021
Dennis "Dale" Kays passed away peacefully Wednesday morning surrounded by his loved ones, after an extended illness. Dale was born in Grants Pass, OR, to Milo Kays and Helena (Buffington) Kays, He grew up in Camas and played football for Camas High School and loved watching college and NFL football.
Dale was a proud veteran, having joined the U.S. Navy just out of high school. He then worked for the federal government, retiring from his job as warehouse foreman for the Bonneville Power Administration after 26 years. He had been a devoted husband, father, grandpa, and now great-grandpa since that time.
Dale was involved in little league coaching for many years and loved fishing, trips to the beach with family; Disneyland and Reno, in addition to a Caribbean Cruise, making long-lasting precious memories. In recent years, MeTV was the highlight of his morning coffee routine with the Beaver, Perry Mason and the catchy theme of Green Acres filling the air.
Dale is survived by his loving wife, Sharon Violet ("Sherry Vi"); son, Denny and wife Daphne; daughter, Laurie; granddaughters, Whitney and Hayley; and special friend, Logan Terry; grandson, Ryan; and precious great-granddaughter, Harper Lynne, who put a smile on his face EVERY DAY!
Dale is also survived by his brother, Pastor Jim (Joyce) Kays, of Colville, WA. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Luther, Ted, and Dean Kays; and sister, Elinor Irwin.
Dale will be missed greatly and his family's love goes with him as heaven opens up to his new and glorious world. You will always be in our heart, resting in the Lord's loving arms. Of note, little Harper would like to say, "He loved tomatoes!"
A military burial and celebration of life will held at Willamette National Cemetery in Happy Valley, OR, July 14, at 1 p.m.
