The world is missing one lovely and spirited angel as Elaine Catherine Sutter passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord. She is now reunited with loved ones that have passed before her.

Elaine was born on December 2, 1942, to Donald Harry Sutter and Helen Timm Sutter. Elaine was born in Vancouver, WA and lived there until she went home to be with the Lord on May 31, 2026, at the age of 83.

Education was important to Elaine. She attended Hudson Bay High School, Clark Community College and Linfield Community College. She went on to earn a Master's Degree at Lewis & Clark College.

On her first day of Kindergarten, Elaine returned home announcing that she was going to be a teacher and so, she did! Elaine taught at Washington State School for the Deaf in Vancouver, WA. After teaching second grade for 16 years, she went about teaching all grades as a way to gather experience and skills to become a principal.

Elaine was an active member of the Church of the Good Shepherd. She spent many years participating in a variety of different activities and roles important to her. Elaine cherished her time spent at the Episcopal Church that she loved so much.

Elaine loved flowers and had been an active member of the Portland Rose Society with her mother for many years. Their yard held many different types of flowers as well as hundreds of rose varieties. She loved animals (but not snakes). Elaine had many dogs throughout her life, but only one cat. She also loved visiting the coast and enjoying seafood.

Elaine touched the lives of those around her with warmth, wisdom and generosity. She made the world a better place for all that knew her. She will be truly missed.
