FLOYD CHARLES RAY
April 17, 1923 ˜ March 3, 2022


Longtime Clark County resident Floyd Charles Ray, 98, died March 3, 2022, in the Salmon Creek area where he had recently been receiving hospice care.

Floyd was born April 17, 1923, at Okemah, OK. He was the third of eight children of Elmer and Clementine (Edwards) Ray.

As a young man, he worked in the shipyards in Portland, OR, and met his future wife of 64 years, Audree Ream, of the West Linn area of Oregon. They married on Feb. 15, 1947, and lived since 1948 primarily in Vancouver.

Floyd worked as a pipefitter and plumber for Burlington Northern. He retired as a supervisor after 35 years, and he and Audree spent their early retirement in Ocean Park, WA, before resettling in Vancouver. They enjoyed winters in Yuma, AZ.
He loved gardening, salmon fishing, clamming, camping, and playing shuffleboard and cards with friends. He also enjoyed home projects and was an avid sports fan.

Floyd was preceded in death by his wife on March 31, 2011; and by his parents, two sisters and five brothers. He is survived by daughters, Leslie Bryan (Chuck), Laura Hays (Jim), and Lynne Crocker (Larry); and son, Steven; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

The family is grateful to A Home with Hope care home and Peace Health Hospice (Southwest Medical Center).
