Frank Dwight
Wendt
Aug 20, 1931 — Mar 2, 2024
Brush Prairie
Frank Dwight Wendt, 92, of Brush Prairie, WA., passed away suddenly and peacefully on March 2, 2024, at home. Born on August 20, 1931, in Manter, Ks. He was born in the back bedroom of his grandparent's house because the nearest hospital was 75 miles away. And we all thought he was born in a barn. (a little Frank humor)
He attended East High school in Wichita, KS. He went to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. as a cable repairman February 1950 to 1983, (33 years and 5 mo.). During this time, he spent 2 years (1953-1955) of active duty in the Army in Fort Riley, KS. He was also in the Kansas National Guard for 5 years. 1951~1953 1955-1958.
Frank married Norma Jean (Tedder) on February 14,1953 in Wichita, Kansas.
Frank & Norma moved to Missouri in the late 70's where they owned Fin & Feather Resort in Kimberling City on Table Rock Lake. Years later they sold the resort and opened Aux-Arc Frames & Creative Pastimes in Branson. Mo. for 20 years. Frank did custom framing while Norma tended the needlework shop and taught classes. After retiring from being shop owners, they spent many years living in an RV enjoying life while traveling across the country together. They eventually settled down in Longview/Kelso, WA. where he led the life of leisure, Norma's "honey do" list and watching his lifetime favorite show WWE, and Judge Judy.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and great great grandfather. He loved his family and friends, and his beloved dog Muffin. He will always be remembered for ALWAYS having a joke or two, or three…
Frank is survived by his children, Richard Wendt (Joanne) Brush Prairie, WA and Janis Dunlap (Dan), of Olathe, KS. One living sibling out of 5, his brother Erich Wendt, Jr. of Wichita, KS. Grandchildren: Travis Wendt, Stephen Wendt, Andrew Dunlap, Michelle Dunlap, and Ali Wendt. Great grandchildren: Tyler Wendt, Emily Wendt, Bentley Wendt, Brooklyn Wendt and Blake Wendt great-great grandson Sedona Kreisman.
He also had two step grandchildren, Emma Beaudoin and Meghan Beaudoin and two step great grandchildren Camron Beaudoin and Anthony Heard.
He was preceded in death by his wife Norma (Tedder) Wendt and grandson, Cameron Wendt. His parents Erich Alvin Wendt, Sr and Vera (Hoopingarner) Wendt, his siblings Dora (Wendt) Dotson, Fred Wendt, Oran Wendt and Kay (Wendt) Nespor.
From his children Rick and Jan:
He never looked for praises. He was never one to boast. He just went on quietly working, for the ones he loved the most. His dreams were seldom spoken. His wants were very few. And most of the time his worries went unspoken too. He was there… A firm foundation. Through all our storms of life. A sturdy hand to hold on to, in times of stress and strife. A true friend we could turn to, when times were good or bad. One of our greatest blessings. The man that we call DAD. (by Thomas Mofolo)
There will be an Inurnment Ceremony at a future date. TBD
