Fredric
Santolucito
Oct 21, 1942 — Apr 15, 2023
Vancouver
Fred Santolucito of Vancouver, Washington passed away peacefully in the early hours of the morning on April 15, 2023, at PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center. His son, Jeffrey Santolucito was at his bedside.
Born, October 21, 1942, in Norwich, New York, he was the son of Frank William and Margaret Mary Santolucito. Upon graduating from Norwich High School, Fred attended Belmont Abbey College in Belmont, North Carolina. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from LaSalle University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He later went on to pursue postgraduate studies in business administration at Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont, California.
In 1967, Fred enlisted in the armed forces. After completing Basic Combat Training, he pursued Officer Candidate School where he became a commissioned officer of the US Army. He flew over 1200 hours of flight missions during the Vietnam War, sustaining repetitive enemy fire while providing sightings and intelligence photos of enemy positions. Fred was awarded two Bronze Stars and two Air Metals for "meritorious service against hostile forces."
After serving his country, Fred pursued his professional career. He worked for several organizations, including two Fortune 500 companies, Ford, and Hewelt Packard (HP). During his tenure at HP, he served as corporate contract administrator and procurement business manager. He traveled internationally on behalf of HP, negotiating and securing multi-million-dollar contracts with HP manufacturers and suppliers. He retired from HP in 2002, after 22 years of service.
During retirement, Fred graciously devoted his time and resources to family, friends, neighbors, and numerous organizations, including Friends of the Carpenter, St. Vincent de Paul Society of Vancouver, Clark County Juvenile Court, Vancouver Public School Lunch Buddy Program, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Washington.
Fred passionately loved all sports, but especially golf and basketball. He was an avid golfer from childhood, throughout his entire life. He loved the Portland Trail Blazers and was a season ticket holder for many years. Yet, Fred's greatest love and devotion was to his Lord and family. His daughter, Kimberly Kygar and his two sons, Lee and Jeff were the love of his life, along with his wife, Jamie, and Jamie's daughter, Zoe, his sister, Barbara Obrien, and his grandchildren, Gavin, Cameron, Jillian, Shayla, Vincent, James, Thomas, Gabrielle, Marren, and Kate.
Fred was an exceptional human being…son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend, and neighbor. His kindness, warmth, integrity, and humility touched and inspired our hearts and minds. He was a truly selfless sole…always thinking of others before himself. Fredric Joseph Santolucito achieved what we all aspire to in this life…he left the world a better place than he found it. His love, light, and truth will shine on through all those who knew and loved him.
