George Konstadinos
Fassilis
Jul 9, 1955 — Jun 29, 2026
Vancouver
George K. Fassilis passed away peacefully surrounded by family on June 29, 2026.
He was born and raised in the small fishing town of Kilada, Greece. After serving time in the Greek Navy, he met and married the love of his life, Areti. Together they crossed the ocean and moved to the United States in pursuit of the American Dream, where they not only lived it, they embodied it.
George and Areti built a life together of 48 years, and raised two children, Dina and Kosta. During his 48 years here in the United States, he worked tirelessly to provide for his family and create a legacy that will carry on for generations. His determination, work ethic, and entrepreneurial spirit led him to become a successful self-made businessman in the maritime industry. He believed that hard work, integrity, and perseverance could overcome any obstacle, and he lived those values every day.
Above all, George was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a proud grandfather. He was fiercely loyal to his family and friends, generous to those in need, and always willing to lend a helping hand. His smile was infectious, and whether someone knew him for only a short time or for many years, he left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
George loved to travel but nowhere held his heart like Greece. He cherished every opportunity to return home, where he spent summers with family enjoying the simple pleasures he loved most days at the beach, swimming in the sea, boating, fishing, and sharing coffee and conversation with lifelong friends.
George was preceded in death by his parents, Konstantinos and Konstantina Fassilis, and his brother, Yianni Fassilis.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Areti; his daughter, Dina Fassilis; his son, Kosta Fassilis (Morgan); and his four cherished grandchildren: George (12), Michael (8), Niko (3), and Adrian (1). He is also survived by his brothers, Panagioti, Evangelos, and Dimitrios, and his sisters, Maria and Despina.
A funeral service celebrating George's life will be held on Friday, July 10, at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Portland, Oregon, with a reception immediately following.
