Sep 25, 1943 — Apr 14, 2026
Vancouver
George Guy Rickards II, lovingly known as Guy, passed away on April 14, 2026, in Vancouver, Washington, at the age of 82. He was born on September 25, 1943, in San Diego, California, to Montana Mae and George Israel Guy Rickards.
Guy was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose family was his greatest joy. He was married to his sweetheart, Mary Lucille Rickards, and together they built a life centered on love, faith, and family.
He is survived by his children: Lisa (Masood) Moarefdoust, Sarah (Robert) Long, Aaron (Jennifer) Zink, Micah (Lorraine) Zink, Tiffany (John) Neal, Emily (Nathan) Perry, Steven Rickards from a previous marriage, and his brother Earl (Susan) Rickards. He also leaves behind 19 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense happiness.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Mary, and three children from a previous marriage.
Guy served his country honorably as a Paratrooper with the U.S. Army Airborne Division. He was also a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Throughout his life, Guy worked as an accountant and later served as the Vice President of Bench Craft Company for over 20 years. He was known for his strong work ethic, dedication, and steady example.
Guy found great happiness in simple pleasures and time spent with those he loved. He enjoyed traveling and camping in the family's trailer, playing chess, and especially spending time with family. He loved watching the History Channel, cheering on the Oregon Ducks, and treating himself to some of his favorite foods: Wendy's Jr. Bacon Cheeseburgers, chocolate Frostys, maple bars, and root beer floats.
Guy's family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Roxanna Bolohan and the staff at Silver Haven Adult Family Home for the loving care they provided to Guy during the last couple years of his life. His family is forever grateful.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Parkinson's Foundation at: http://www.parkinson.org
A viewing will be held at the Hamilton-Mylan Funeral Home in Vancouver, Washington, on May 6th from 3:00 to 5:00 PM.
Guy will be laid to rest with full military honors at the Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon, on May 7th, following a private family graveside service at 10:30 AM.
