Georgia Catherine Ellis

Georgia C. Ellis of Vancouver, WA passed away on April 2, 2023, after an extended illness.

Georgia was born December 10, 1936, to Francis X. Pionk and Anna C. Pionk in Webster, South Dakota. She raised five children, mostly single handedly, while her husband was out to sea. Once her children were grown, she returned to college for a degree in Early Childhood Development.

Georgia loved her dogs, gardening and feeding the neighborhood birds which she always named. A bag of treats was left weekly for her sanitation service and her mail and paper carriers received holiday gifts every year. Riding the city bus for years was always an opportunity to have a conversation and turn a stranger into a friend.

Georgia is pre-deceased by her husband Engbert (Lucky) Ellis and her son, Daniel L. Hunt. She is survived by daughters Catherine A. Hoernlein, Cheryl D. Baumgardner, Cindy K. Tofts and son, James E. Ellis, nine grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. With such a large family, she amazed us by never forgetting a birthday. She was very feisty, spirited woman with a dry sense of humor who kept everyone on their toes. Generous to a fault, she'd happily share whatever she had with everyone.

There will be a viewing on Wednesday, April 12th at Hamilton-Mylan Funeral, 3 p.m. - 7 p.m. Services will be held at St. James Catholic Church on Thursday, April 13th at 11:00 with burial following at Mother Joseph's Catholic Cemetery.
