Vancouver
Gregory Scott Cesar beloved husband, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and dear friend passed away peacefully on Dec. 12, 2025, after a courageous two-year battle with cancer at the age of 67.
Greg was born in Monterey Park, Los Angeles, California. The second child of Delbert and Margaret "Ann" (Rayhill) Cesar on May 22, 1958. In 1968 the family moved to The Dalles, Oregon. Just in time for The Big Snow in January 1969. It was very exciting for the Southern California Family.
After graduating from The Dalles High School in 1976, Greg continued his education at The University of Oregon, graduating in 1980. There began his lifelong love of all things Duck Football.
He married the absolute love of his life, Sue in 1988. He managed Courtsports Athletic Club in Eugene, for several years before beginning a career with United Grocers which evolved to US Food Chef'Store by his retirement in 2023. Greg enjoyed this work very much and cherished the relationships of several colleagues.
Greg was happiest doing anything with his Susie. They enjoyed many vacations, hosting their famous tailgate parties at Autzen Stadium, family gatherings, gardening, and quiet dinners in their happy home.
It was Greg's desire to join the Catholic Church. After much preparation, he was welcomed into his Catholic Faith, receiving sacraments to include Baptism.
Greg is survived by his beloved Susan, his siblings Steven (Hoa) Robert "Skip" and San Cesar. Sister-in-law Gloria (Tony) Virnig, brothers-in-law Tim and Paul (Diane) Nugent. Nephews Eric, Barry, Jordan and Spencer. Nieces Andrea (Brandon), Chelsea, Olivia, Kerrigan, and special great niece Charlotte June. Along with dear friend Ted Allen.
His light was needed in heaven to make a path for the rest of us and there is no doubt he will have a green and yellow tailgate waiting when we are reunited.
Susan would like to extend her heartfelt gratitude to everyone who helped care for Greg during his final weeks of life. PeaceHealth Home Hospice, PeaceHealth Ray Hickey Hospice House.
