Greta René Hertel, age 64, of Vancouver, WA, passed away on Jan. 27, 2024. She was born in Vancouver April 8, 1959, to her parents, Barbara and Harvey Luckman. She was raised with her siblings, Mark, Christine, Gregory, Steven, and Eric, on the outskirts of Vancouver and attended Battle Ground High School.

Following in the footsteps of her mom, Barbara, Greta graduated with her Bachelors in Nursing from the University of Portland. Greta began her nursing career in hospitals before transitioning to home health and then for the last 15 years of her career, she worked as a dedicated hospice nurse. Her compassionate nature and commitment to providing comfort to others will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Myron Hertel; her daughters, Alyssa Hertel and Janelle Edwards; and her grandson, Jack Edwards. She died peacefully surrounded by her family, the most important thing to her.

A funeral service will be held at St. Mary's of Guadalupe in Ridgefield, WA, on Friday, Feb. 2, 2024, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Share of Vancouver or any hospice volunteer agencies.
