JAMES JOSEPH BRADY

James Joseph Brady, longtime Vancouver resident, passed away June 15, at age 93. Jim was first generation Irish-American, born in Oakland, but grew up in Portland where he attended Holy Redeemer, Columbia Prep and University of Portland. He served in the Army during the Korean War. Jim moved to Vancouver after marrying Gloria, raising four children there. He owned O'Brady's Drive-In for many years, selling it to his daughter Susie upon retirement. He coached baseball at Alcoa Little League, CYO basketball at Our Lady of Lourdes, and was active in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. He enjoyed trips to Ireland, was his grandkids' greatest sports fan and never knew a stranger.
He was preceded in death by his son, Tim; survived by his wife of 65 years, Gloria; son, Kerry (Christina); daughters, Mary Kate Creagan and Susie Brady; and seven grandchildren. Funeral mass will be held Saturday, June 26, 2021, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church at 11 a.m. with a celebration of life following.
