Obituary

JEANNINE ARLENE DeGAGNE
August 3, 1929 ˜ August 9, 2021

Jeannine DeGagne (nee Holsinger) died peacefully in her home Monday morning, surrounded by loved ones. She is survived by her two children, Mikel DeGagne Jr. and Patti Morgan; her son-in-law, Stewart Morgan; seven grandchildren, Mitch, Mary, Tim, Tyler, Ross, Alivia, and Reed; and two great-grandchildren, August and Margaux. She was married to Michael DeGagne Sr. (a WWII veteran) until his passing in 1976.

Born in Ellendale, ND, she moved to Duluth, WA, in 1942 with her mother and father, Gordon and Lydia Holsinger, and her sisters Jackie and Shirley. Later, they added Jim and Don to the family. She worked at Seafirst Bank for over twenty five years until retirement in 1986. She enjoyed reading, visiting the library frequently, and travelling with her life partner Richard Bowne to Japan and Russia. She lived on the same block in Vancouver since 1950.

She was generous with her time and money. Family was of paramount importance above all else. She had a wicked sense of humor and loved The Onion. She was a spitfire, and drove around Vancouver until she was in her late 80's. She loved nothing more than gazing upon the landscape of North Dakota. Special thanks to Patty DeGagne who cared for Jeannine's needs in her final days.
