John Riess, age 89, passed away peacefully on April 8th, 2026. He leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and a life well lived. Over the course of his remarkable 89 years, John touched countless lives with his kindness, wisdom, and steady presence.

He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for twenty years, a commitment that reflected his deep sense of duty, honor, and patriotism. His service was a source of great pride, and he carried those values with him throughout his life.

Above all, John was devoted to his family. He shared a beautiful marriage of sixty-six years with the love of his life, his wife, Maureen, a partnership built on unwavering love, respect, and companionship. Together, they created a life rich in memories, laughter, and enduring commitment.

He was a devoted father, grandfather, and friend, always offering support, a positive outlook and a listening ear. His life was defined not only by what he accomplished, but by the way he treated others—with respect, generosity, and quiet compassion.

John was preceded in death by his eldest son, John A. Riess, Jr. (Lynn).

He is survived by his loving wife, Maureen; his son, Mark (Teri); his daughters, Marianne (Randy) and Brenda; his grandchildren, Jackie, Michael, Nicolas, Christopher, Brennan, Shawn, and Aaron; and fourteen great-grandchildren, all of whom will continue to honor his memory and carry forward his legacy.

Throughout his life, he embraced both hard work and simple joys. Whether through his career, his hobbies, or time spent with loved ones, he approached each day with purpose and gratitude. He will be remembered for his stories, his sense of humor, and the deep care he showed to those around him.

A life so well lived leaves a lasting imprint. John Riess will be remembered always, with love and gratitude, by all who knew him.

His funeral mass will be held on May 15, 2026, at 11:00am at St. John's the Evangelist located at 8701 NE 119th Street.  A rosary will be held at 10:30 prior to the mass.
