John Roland Weeks

J ohn Roland Weeks, Jr. was born on 09/01/1947. He passed away on March 28, 2023, at his home in Vancouver, WA.

John was known to the family as "Jody." He was born in Laconia, New Hampshire. the oldest son to John Roland Weeks, Sr. and Alice Virginia Smith Weeks. He grew up in Meredith, New Hampshire on Lake Winnipesaukee alongside his two younger brothers, Charles and Roger Weeks. Not long after graduating from Inter-Lakes High School. John attended East Coast Aero Technical School in Lexington, MA to learn how to work on airplanes, after he graduated, he was hired by Western Airlines as a Licensed Master A/P aircraft mechanic. John moved across the country to Van Nuys, CA. While living in Van Nuys, he was also taking classes at Valley College where he met his wife Marina Eugenia Gil.

John and Marina wed at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in North Hollywood, CA. John and Marina spent 11 yrs. working, traveling, backpacking, camping and enjoying each other's company.

In October of 1984, Marina gave birth to their first child, Patrick Brian Weeks. Then, in August of 1987, Marina gave birth to their second son Matthew Kevin Weeks. Shortly after the birth of their second child, John and Marina moved to Vancouver, WA. John continued working for Delta Airlines until he retired.

At the time of John's passing, he and Marina were months shy of their 50th wedding anniversary. During these many years, John and Marina enjoyed traveling together, raising their boys, watching their sons and grandson play soccer and countless MLB games.

John always led a very active life. He participated in both the swim and ski teams in high school, he was also in the school band. He was an avid photographer and developed his own photos in his dark room. He owned 2 small planes; he had a license to fly these airplanes. He continued being active walking with his dog "Brady", almost daily right up to his passing.

John was preceded in death by both of his parents, his younger brother Roger Weeks and his mother and father in-laws Diva M. Gil and Jaime J. Gil.

John is survived by his wife, Marina Weeks, son Patrick Weeks, grandson Everett Jody Weeks, son Matthew Weeks and Matthew's wife Sarah Weeks. Brother Charles Weeks and nephew Anthony Weeks and his wife Carrie Weeks and their children Riley and Sophia Weeks.

John lived a very rich life and always had a smile for those he loved. He will be deeply missed.
