LARRY PARENT
January 13, 1951 ˜ July 21, 2022

On July 21, Larry Parent, 71, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully in his sleep with his beloved dog Todd by his side. There will be a Celebration of Life to share memories of Larry Sun. Aug. 21 at 1 p.m. at Summerfield Farm, 1814 NE 259th Street, Ridgefield WA 98642.

Larry was born in Westchester County, NY, the second of five children of Jeannette and Vincent Parent. He lived in New York until the age of 9, when the family moved to Washington State. Larry attended St. Joseph's Elementary, Central Catholic and Hudson's Bay High School (Class of '69) and Seattle University. He was an Altar Boy and a Boy Scout, completing a 50 mile backpack trip with his father and Scout troop in 7th grade.

Larry made a career in the restaurant industry, starting at Pizza Haven by Tower Mall in the early 70s where he was working when the 1972 tornado hit Vancouver, just missing the restaurant. He rushed over to the Vanco Driving Range to help the owners salvage their equipment and found their missing dog in the debris. Near the end of his career he was an installer of computerized cash registers in restaurants in the Portland area, including at Timberline Lodge on Mt Hood.

After retiring, Larry enjoyed traveling the West Coast and Arizona in his motor home, but his favorite activity was walking the Vancouver Waterfront trails with his dogs.

Larry is survived by his son, Michael and daughter, Jessica; ex-wife, Diane; sisters, Jeanne Shults (Lee), Eileen, and Cathi; brother, Jim; and nephews, Nate and Skyler, and Wes and Cody Shults.
