Obituary

Leo Milton Gaul was born in Preston, Minnesota August 25, 1939. He died peacefully in his sleep on May 7, 2025, in Vancouver, WA.  He was predeceased by his parents Leo Parnell and Evelyn Rose (McGuire) Gaul and his younger brother Maynard.

He was the eldest of 6 children, three brothers, Maynard, Gaylord, Gary and two sisters Leila and Malea. The family enjoyed camping, hunting, and fishing and trips to the Washington and Oregon coast.

Leo graduated from Hudson's Bay High School in the first ever graduating class of 1958. In his earlier years he and his brothers worked for their father at Vancouver Landscape Construction. He worked as a landscape architect and stone mason and worked in the Camas and Green Rock quarries.  He was an entrepreneur, collector and real estate investor. He loved to travel and enjoyed being in the outdoors. He spent time at the beach with his nephew Bobby teaching him how to build sandcastles, and enjoyed many vacations with his mom, sister Malea and niece Mariah. He was adventurous and loved snorkeling, parasailing and swimming with the turtles.

Leo operated and coached at a youth gymnastics facility and loved driving his sports car, walking and swimming in the Columbia River. He was awarded a Fire Medal from the Vancouver Fire Department for saving a drowning boy in the Columbia River.  He was in The Army Reserve for 16 years and achieved the rank of Master Sergeant.

Leo never married, took great care of his family and loved his nieces and nephews. He is survived by his brothers Gaylord and Gary and his sisters Leila and Malea as well as many nieces and nephews.

Interment with be held at Mother Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Vancouver, WA on Wednesday, May 28,2025 at 10:30 am.
