Obituary

LORI A. (MAURER) FERGUSON
October 31, 1968 ˜ July 12, 2022

Lori (Maurer) Ferguson of Vancouver, WA, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2022, after a bravely fought battle with cancer. Lori was born in Pittsburgh, graduated from Carnegie Mellon University, and received a J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. Lori began her career at Northwestern Legal Services in Pennsylvania, helping people who could not afford a lawyer. She moved to Vancouver in 1998 to work for the Northwest Justice Project. Dan Ferguson, her husband-to-be, came to the NW from Ohio a year later. They were inseparable ever since, enjoying a shared love of music, dancing, travel and the outdoors. Lori and Dan married in 2002 and have two wonderful children, Brendan and Katie Rose, who both have Lori's smile.

Lori transitioned into private law practice, first with David Gregerson and Dean Langsdorf, then on her own, excelling in family law, guardianship and estate planning. Lori was a stalwart volunteer with the Luepke Senior Center Legal Clinic, Arc of SW WA, and served on the board of YW Housing. Lori's quiet strength, determination and integrity showed through her every endeavor.

Lori faced life with honesty, courage, compassion, resilience, grace, and laughter. She was an adored wife, dearly loved mother, and true friend, as well as a cherished daughter of Charles Maurer (Arlene) and Donna Olshanski (John), and loving sister of Jennifer Maurer (Brian Parker). She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Lori's funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes, 10 a.m. Friday, August 5, followed by a reception and burial. The service will be livestreamed and recorded on Our Lady of Lourdes Church's YouTube channel. All are also welcome to a potluck celebration of life at 1 p.m. Sunday, August 7, at Capt. William Clark Regional Park at Cottonwood Beach (Clark picnic Shelter). Bring a lawn chair, a side-dish to share, and your stories about Lori.
