Mark Gerard Riehl

September 8, 1960 ~ February 26, 2023

Mark G. Riehl, 62, of University Place, WA, died on Feb. 26, 2023, after a lengthy illness.

Born on Sept. 8, 1960, to Omer and Cecelia Riehl, Mark grew up in Vancouver, WA, where he attended school and participated in many sports. Almost as much as playing, Mark loved watching sports. His family knew not to call on game day! He graduated from Hudson's Bay High School, later meeting Denise Gladson whom he married in 1982 and was blessed with a wonderful son, Nicholas, in 1992. The marriage later ended in divorce.

Watching Nick excel in Tae Kwon Do brought great joy to Mark, as well as most any outdoor activity. Mark shared a love of classic cars with his brother, Paul, attending many car shows around the NW together. Seldom without his camera, Mark was always ready to take extra shots of weddings and other events and family fun but hated to have his own picture taken, making it a challenge to get any good shots of him! Life threw Mark some difficult challenges to overcome, but he never gave up. His perseverance is admired, and his gentle soul is missed.

Mark is survived by his son, Nicholas; siblings, Linda (Mike) Benson, Paul (Lori) Riehl, Colleen (Mike), Wright, and Greg (Christine) Riehl; along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday March 24, 2023, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with luncheon to follow. Please come and join us to share memories and celebrate Mark's life.
