Mary Elizabeth
Niedemeyer Natta
Jun 13, 1930 — Feb 24, 2026
Vancouver
Mary led a vibrant and full life, filled with meaningful connections to family, friends, and community. She attended Madeleine Grade School and High School, graduated from Immaculata High School, and attended Marylhurst College. In 1949 she married Frank Natta, a lettuce farmer from Vancouver, Washington. Together they raised three children and celebrated 51 years of marriage before Frank died in March 2000.
In addition to supporting Frank in the farming business, she was a partner with Carmelyn and Joe Borroz in the Country Corner, a rug braiding business, and Frank's Carpets with her husband. She volunteered at the Japanese Garden, Albertina Kerr Foundation, and the Columbia Art Center.
A devoted Catholic, Mary was an active member of St Joseph Parish and St James Parish, both in Vancouver. Throughout her life she also supported St. Joseph Grade School, Holy Child Academy and Central Catholic High School.
Mary enjoyed meaningful connections with friends over the years. She and Frank were members of a dinner group with eight other couples for 60 years and were active members of the Oxford Athletic Club for 40 years. In retirement she and Frank spent time at their cabin in Timberline Rim, near Mt. Hood. She also joined Frank in his love of fly fishing, and they shared many fishing adventures with her brother, Linus and his wife, Masa.
