NORMAN D. WEBB
July 24, 1940 ˜ January 24, 2022

Norm Webb was not exceptionally tall. In a crowd, you might not notice him. But what made him stand out head-and-shoulders above others was who he was - a man of unfailing integrity. His life achievements included being a successful executive, a devoted spouse and loving parent, a loyal and playful friend, and a generous benefactor. His actions were always guided by his innate principles of honesty, responsibility, and service. The cause of death was Alzheimer's disease.

As a young man, Norm served with distinction in the United States Air Force. He also earned a Bachelor's degree from Portland State University and an MBA from the University of Portland. Following work at Electronic Specialty, Inc., he became an executive at Pierce Pacific. He then led KASO Plastics to increasingly profitable success for many years until his retirement.

He and his beloved Lou were married for 48 years; his devotion to her care was unsparing. In spite of the attention her progressing Multiple Sclerosis required, friends and family were always treasured. Among other gatherings, Norm and Lou created "The Troutdale Invitational," a day-long event that they held at their home every summer for 22 years, with games, competitions, food, and hilarity. Norm was also active in Toastmasters. He shared his interest in sports with his family, even acknowledging with a wry smile that he was a Chicago Cubs baseball fan. The Cubs finally rewarded his loyalty in 2016, winning their first World Series in more than 100 years.

Another of Norm's passions was pursuing collections. Over the years, he acquired license plates from every state for 1940 (the year he was born). He also collected bookmarks, matchbooks, anything written about Abraham Lincoln, stamps, mnemonics, and puns. Each collection was documented with notes and date of acquisition meticulously filed. Norm was fascinated by Pacific Northwest bridges. He researched them, and then invited others to explore with him as he photographed all he could visit. He and Lou also did an extensive genealogy of the Webb family, making albums of photos and written ancestry.

Norm is survived by his son, Vern Webb (Terri) of Beaverton, OR; his granddaughter, Alexis Maniscalco (Giovanni), of Oceanside, CA; his sister, Elissa Lozier of Novato, CA; his nephew, Nathan Lozier, of San Francisco, CA; and his niece, Natalie Ramsland (Austin) of Portland, OR. He is also survived by his stepdaughter, Merlea Layman (Les) of Nine Mile Falls, WA; his step-grandchildren, Jim Norris (Kim); Jennifer Molnar (Doug); and David Emerson, other extended family and a legion of longtime friends. Son David Webb is deceased.

The family is particularly grateful for the loving care provided Lou and Norm by their extraordinary caregivers, Cecie Jandron and Lynlae Allen, and for outstanding support from the staff at Touchmark at Fairway Village and Visiting Angels, both of Vancouver, WA.

At Norm's request, no services will be held. He will be interred next to Lou at Willamette National Cemetery. Contributions in Norm's memory may be made to the Norman and Louella Webb Scholarship Fund at the University of Portland, www.up.edu or the National Multiple Sclerosis Society , www.nationalmssociety.org
