Obituary

Major Robert Joseph Eisenrich, 91, known as "Bob" to his family and friends, joined his Heavenly Father on April 19, 2025, from Vancouver, WA, after living a rich and full life that he enjoyed.

He was the youngest child of Frank and Anne Eisenrich, born on January 16, 1934 in Amboy, IL, who enjoyed fishing with his mother, and being in nature.

After attending Amboy High School, he joined the military where he was selected for the US Air Force Candidate School.  He was commissioned as a second Lieutenant and trained to be a navigator.  During his twenty years in the Air Force, he served active duty on bases in Vietnam, Texas, Germany, California, Japan, Louisiana, and Idaho.  Mid-career, he became a Nuclear and Ground Safety Officer and served on a regional safety inspection team.  He ended his commitment to our country at Mountain Home AFB, Idaho, in 1973.    After retirement he completed his Bachelor of Science Degree in Aviation Management at Boise State University in 1975.

He was a life-long Catholic, enjoyed traveling, boating, chaperoning his children's school field trips, visiting family, going to the spa, bowling, growing a garden and more.  He strove to be kind to others, and had a dry sense of humor, asking people he would meet in the check-out stand, "Is today your birthday?"

He married Jane Rohrer in 1964 and during their 17 years together had three children, Paula, Lisa and Peter.  He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Frank, his sisters Rita and Mary, his daughter, Lisa and other friends and family dear to him.  He is survived by his son Peter, daughter Paula, son-in-law, Wayde, and his four grandchildren: Jack, Claire, Erik and Kristin.  Bob was much loved by his family—a caring and generous presence in their lives who will be missed.  He will be buried in the Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon.
