Ron's family moved to Hillsboro, OR in 1935, where he graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1948, enlisting in the Air Force on September 1, 1948. Ron served in the Weather Corps, involved in significant atom bomb testing in the South Pacific. Ron married Patricia (Pounds) on April 27, 1952 and was discharged from the Air Force in 1953.
Ron worked for Albers Milling Company, Carnation, LeRoy Hagen Real Estate, and retired in 1995 after 23 years as a real property appraiser in the Clark County Assessors Office.
Ron is preceded in death by sister, Donna, father, Albert, and mother, Nora. He is survived by wife, Patricia; sons, Roger and Bradley; daughter, Melinda; seven grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
Active in the community, Ron was a member of the VFW, American Legion, and past president of the 99 Strip Businessmen's Association. He was a particularly strong supporter of Smith Tower and the Skill Center.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, June 21, 10:30am, at St. John Lutheran Church, 11005 NE Highway 99, Vancouver, WA 98686, where Ron and Pat have been members since 1965. Reception will follow.
