Royal Milton Johnson

May 31, 1944 ~ July 8, 2023

Royal Milton Johnson, widely known as Bud, passed away July 8, 2023. Born on May 31, 1944, to Juanita May Ruby Whitmore and Ward Willis Johnson in Spokane Washington.  Bud lived a life full of family, laughing and acting cool.

Bud served in the army from June 19th, 1961, to June 18th, 1964, and completed his tour as a Sargent.  Bud served right after the Koren war and spent a year in Korea. He received a Good Conduct Medal.  He was a sharpshooter. When Bud left the Army, he worked at the Forrest Service.

Bud married Anne and had three children Voni, Chad, and Dale.  Anne and Bud later divorced.

Bud then met Virginia Johnson in Anderson California and they moved to Ketchikan Alaska with his job in the forest service where they were married on June 15th, 1981.  Ginger had three children Cindy, Debbie, and David.  Bud and Ginger loved to fish.  They took their boat the crooked arrow out to catch fish as often as they could. Bud loved nice cars and always tried to have a nice car even in Ketchikan with 12 miles of road!  Bud was a Forest Service Administrator in Ketchikan.  Bud and Ginger liked to go out in Ketchikan and have strawberry rhubarb pie.  Ketchikan was one of their happiest times.  In Ketchikan was where Mom and Bud meet their good friends Ken and Mert Thompson in Ketchikan.

Bud worked for the Forest Service until he retired in 1991 at the age of 47 after 30 years of government service.

Bud then moved to Vancouver Washington with Ginger and his family. Bud worked at various jobs after retiring. He was a real estate appraiser and tech support provider to name a few.

He will be fondly remembered and sorely missed by his stepdaughter, Cindy Newman, stepdaughter Debbie and stepson Dave, amongst other friends and family members. His memory will continue to inspire and guide us.

Bud is survived by his children Voni, Chad, Dale, Cindy, Debbie and Dave.  His grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  His sisters Judy and Virginia.

Bud was preceded in death by his mother Juanita May Ruby Whitmore.

Bud loved to laugh.  He was always telling stories and laughing at his own jokes. Bud loved his family and wanted happiness and success for everyone.

May He Rest In Peace
