Obituary

Virginia "Edith" Nalley passed away peacefully on June 24, 2026, at her home in Vancouver, Washington, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born to Walter LeRoy Trout and Olive Jane Lewis on July 19, 1934, in Yakima, Washington. Edith was the youngest of thirteen children. Two of her siblings passed away at birth, and she was the last surviving of the eleven children who were raised to adulthood.
Growing up in Yakima, Edith met the love of her life, Virgil E. Nalley. They were married on November 9, 1952, and shared more than 65 wonderful years together before Virgil's passing in 2018.

As a devoted military wife and homemaker, Edith dedicated her life to raising her family and creating a home filled with love. Together, she and Virgil raised four children: Dennis Nalley, Dale Nalley, Dwayne Nalley, and Deanna (James) Anderson. In addition to raising their children, Virgil and Edith lovingly helped raise their granddaughter, Amy (Shane) Yerkes, as a fifth child.

Edith was an avid league bowler whose passion for the sport spanned decades. She was a dedicated member of the Clark County Women's Bowling Association for more than 50 years and proudly served as its president. She was the longest-serving president in the Association's history, serving until her resignation. Edith also bowled in the Women's National Bowling Tournament for 40 consecutive years and, in 2000, was inducted into the Clark County Women's Bowling Association Hall of Fame in recognition of her dedication and contributions to the sport. Bowling brought her lifelong friendships and countless cherished memories.

Edith and Virgil also shared a love of travel. Whether they were taking trips in their RV, exploring new places, bowling together, or simply spending time with family, she treasured every moment and every memory they made along the way.
Known for her grace, poise, and feisty spirit, Edith had a sharp wit and wasn't afraid to speak her mind.

She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend whose strength, resilience, kindness, and unconditional love touched everyone who knew her. Edith is survived by her four children, Dennis Nalley, Dale Nalley, Dwayne Nalley, and Deanna (James) Anderson; four grandchildren, Christina Carter, Amy (Shane) Yerkes, Collin Anderson, and Emma Anderson; two great-grandchildren, Bram Yerkes and Vance Yerkes; and many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, Virgil E. Nalley; her parents, Walter LeRoy Trout and Olive Jane Lewis; and all of her brothers and sisters; and several beloved nieces and nephews.

A funeral service celebrating Edith's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, July 12, 2026, at West Hills Memorial Park, 11800 Douglas Road, Yakima, WA 98908. A reception will immediately follow from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Doodle Vines Winery, 2410 Naches Heights Road, Yakima, WA 98908.Edith will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband, Virgil, reunited once again after years apart. While she will be deeply missed by those she leaves behind, her family finds comfort in knowing she is finally at peace and reunited with all those who have gone before her.
