Obituary

Warren "Ty" Tytler, 96, passed away peacefully in Vancouver, WA on November 6th, 2025.

He was born in Poulsbo, WA on March 10, 1929.  The only people who called him "Warren" were his parents George and Annie Tytler.  To everyone else he was always "Ty."

Ty is survived by his sons Stephen Tytler and Brian Tytler; his daughter Judith Buennagel; his grandchildren Charles Tytler, Samantha Sunne, Brian "Christopher" Tytler, Georgia Tytler, and Colby Buennagel; and his great-grandson Miles Tytler.

Ty grew up on a farm in Poulsbo with his late brother Morton Tytler.  He helped his family raise cattle, strawberries and Christmas trees.  At age 17, he enlisted in the US Army and served two years in Korea between the end of World War II and the beginning of the Korean War. When he returned home, Ty used the GI Bill to pay for enrollment at the University of Washington (UW), where he graduated with a business degree.

After graduating from college, Ty returned home to Poulsbo and went to work for Jensen, Richards and Ohava, a real estate company.  Ty was very successful in real estate.  He eventually bought out the original owners of the company and became the sole owner of JRO, Inc, which was the most successful real estate brokerage in north Kitsap County throughout the 1960's and 1970's.  Ty was very active in the local community, including Poulsbo Lions Club where he served as President, Kitsap Realtors Association and Multiple Listing Service.  Ty was also active in Kitsap County politics.  Ty was Scoutmaster of the Poulsbo Boy Scout Troup 570 for several years and lead the boys on many backpacking and camping trips.  In the early 1980's, Ty retired from the real estate business and bought a Bristol Bay Limited Entry Salmon Permit.  Ty fished commercially for sockeye salmon in Alaska's Bristol Bay for about 14 years.

Ty enjoyed fishing, hunting and outdoor recreation.  In his retirement, Ty sometimes traveled as far as Montana for fishing and South Dakota for hunting.  Ty enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.  Ty was very proud of the waterfront property on Dabob Bay in Jefferson County that he bought in the 1960's.  Ty built a cabin on the property in 1998, and his family still enjoys this beautiful recreational property today.

Ty was an active member of the Episcopal Church for his entire life.  A memorial service will be held on November 21st at 1:30 PM at All Saints Episcopal Church, 2206 NW 99th St, Vancouver, WA 98665.
